Wing Yip is a strategic partner of Polymateria which is a leading British company in the field of Biodegradable Technology. Their technology has been developed with the aim of producing 100% biodegradable polybags & other plastic packaging.  This is in contract to other additives which accelerate the decomposing process of plastics into smaller fragments. This process results in microplastics.  Polymateria’s advanced biodegradable technology known as “biotransformation” involves mixing their additive during the production process so that the material produced, if not recycled, finds its way into the natural environment will decompose into harmless waxes within a set timeframe.  These natural waxes are then consumed and digested by enzymes, bacteria, fungi and microbial materials.  This process breaks down the waxes into natural end products such as carbon dioxide, water and microbes.  The huge benefit of this process is that there are no microplastics left to damage the natural environment.

Wing Yip has been involved in the production of polybags using this technology.  These bags have been stringently tested by independent laboratories and certified to prove that the polybags we produce are fully biodegradable and leave no microplastics.
